Jaws Youth Playbook replaced an aging gym floor in the campus recreation and fitness center at Baker Victory Services (BVS). More than 5,000 children, adults and families are assisted annually through a diverse range of BVS programs.
Annually, in partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles, JYP and the NFLA hosts 150 of at-risk youth from programs served throughout the year at an Eagles pre-season game. For many of the attendees this is their very first professional sports game. JYP hosts a kid friendly tailgate with food and gift for each child.
Woodland community development program hosts a one day simulated pro combine for high school students in the Camden NJ area. Retired NFL Alumni from the greater Philadelphia area join forces to coach these youth in the various football drills.
Jaws Youth Playbook teamed up with the United Way to host a Philadelphia Soul Area Football Night, this game provided an opportunity for thousands of Philadelphia-area undeserved youth to experience a professional football game. The tickets donated by JYP have been distributed by United Way to many deserving children in the communities throughout the Philadelphia area.
Jaws never forgets his roots! When he heard that his hometown of Lackawanna NY was going to lose its Little League Football program due to funds he had to jump right in. Jaws Youth Playbook donated new uniforms and equipment to over 200 youth football & cheerleaders this fall.
A youth football team in the Frankford section of Philadelphia was all smiles, but not due to a winning touchdown or interception, but because they were able to have a real practice after their equipment was stolen from them.
Vandals broke into the storage shed stealing a lot of the team's equipment.
Ron Jaworski's charity, Jaws Youth Playbook, generously donated thousands of dollars in equipment to replace the items that were stolen.
There's a long proud tradition on their home turf of Gambrel Field; it is where the Philadelphia Eagles began as the Frankford Yellow Jackets. Jaworski, a former Eagle, wants to make sure that tradition carries on.
In 2015, Jaws Youth Playbook funds were dedicated to help with two new renovations at the Vineland YMCA. One being a Family Multipurpose Center, a 4,000-square-foot that will hold everything from basketball games to special needs sports to birthday parties and meetings. The other facility is the Family Health and Adventure Center, a 1,000-square-foot room with exercise equipment for both adults and children. The room, which also has a rock-climbing wall, is intended to inspire whole families to exercise together.
Jaws Youth Playbook teams up with Dick Smith to host a Jaws Junior Golf Tour which is Free for over 90 at-risk youth kids in the Greater Philadelphia Area. The mission of the Tour is to provide young golfers the opportunity to play competitive golf during their summer vacations. The tour is a developmental tour with juniors of varying skill levels testing their skills against their peers. The tour has age groups of 15-17 years old, 13-14 years old and 12 years old and under.
With the increase in violence in Atlantic City, Jaws Youth Playbook decided to help with the Boys & Girls Clubs after school programs. Funds helped support the Triple Play Program, first comprehensive health and wellness program, developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, strives to improve the overall health of Club members ages 6-18 by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships.
Jaws Youth Playbook joined GMC, United Way and Fairmount Park Conservancy to build a United Way Healthy Kids Zone in Hunting Park. Celebrities and volunteers helped build a playground to provide a place for children to play in the North Philadelphia community.
MLK Day of Service, Jaws Youth Playbook and United Way conducted a program - Kick it Up for Recess, where volunteers filled hundreds of sports activity bags and team kits with high-quality balls, bats, gloves, hockey sticks, tennis rackets, jump ropes and other items for after-school and summer recreation programs throughout the Philadelphia region
Ron Jaworski, along with players from the Hunting Park Aztecs celebrate their brand new field in Hunting Park section of Philadelphia. Jaws Youth Playbook along with the Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Vick and the Team Vick Foundation, officially dedicated Team Vick Field at Hunting Park. The dedication ceremony celebrated the transformation of the football field, serving as a place of pride for Hunting Park's 2004 Pop Warner Championship team, the North Philadelphia Aztecs! The Hunting Park Revitalization Project is a community-driven effort to make transformative capital and programmatic improvements to the 87 acres of Hunting Park. The Philly Aztecs have since went on to win the 61st Pop Warner Super Bowl Championship in 2018. To learn more:
Ron Jaworski, along with players from Ventnor City Pirates, and representatives REVIVE ─ Atlantic County’s Long Term Recovery Group, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ), and the Ventnor community gatheredto unveil a recently rebuilt athletic field that was ravaged by Super Storm Sandy. Repairs from the $30,000 grant from Jaws Youth Playbook include Refreshment Stand, Fieldhouse, Batting Cages, Sheds and Fences. In addition, the grant covered the cost of new athletic equipment, fieldhouse appliances and a new scoreboard!
Can you imagine kids not wanting to play during recess because the ground was covered in chips that got “in your shoes, your hair and just every where.”
That’s the case at Woodland Academy/ Keystone Star 3 Day care enter. Through a JYP grant, Woodland was able to replace the play surface for the hundreds of youth who utilize this playground in the Cobb’s Creek section of Philadelphia.
Ron Jaworski and United HealthCare teamed up with More than 200 volunteers gathered in Darby Borough on Saturday to build a new playground at Park Lane Elementary School. Volunteers from the community, William Penn School District, Park Lane Elementary and organizers from the KaBoom!
Through dollars and activation of players, the NFL Alumni Association supports the nationwide Fuel Up to Play 60 effort, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program developed by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League (NFL), in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). More than 70,000 schools are involved in Fuel Up to Play 60 nationwide.
Chester is one of the poorest cities in Pennsylvania, but the stakes are unbelievably high. Drugs, poverty and gang-related violence have left a trail of hardship and heartbreak across the city. To help provide a safe outlet for youth to “be kids”, JYP, in partnership with the City of Chester Department of Parks and Recreation, is supporting the installation of Born Learning Trails in two park locations to provide learning and play opportunities on either side of Chester
